Greg passed peacefully away at home on December 5, 2018. Greg loved his family dearly and cherished his wife Deb and their pets Holly, McDuff and Conner. Greg enjoyed traveling, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and spending time with his family. His greatest joy in life was the many happy moments shared with those he loved who will miss him so very much. Greg was known to all his family and friends as the nicest, kindest man they ever met. He suffered tremendously in the last few months but was never one to complain. He is survived by his wife Deb Whetsel, step children Rob Gorbett (Carol), Julie Raber and Jill Uppencamp, step granddaughter Jennifer Mansell (Dan), step grandson Tyler Gorbett, sister-in-law Pam Chelf (Mike) and countless friends and other adopted family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Hazel Whetsel. Greg was a huge animal lover and we are asking in lieu of flowers that memorial contribution be made in Greg’s name to Canine Companions for Independence. Memorial envelopes will be available or donations can be made directly to Canine Companions for Independence, North Central Region at 4989 State Route 37 East, Delaware, Ohio 43015.
A celebration of Life Open House will be held December 15th from 12:30 to 2:30 at

I agree – Greg was one of the kindest men I have ever met. He also was married to my best friend which made me love him even more. I am so sad that he is no longer physically with us but know he & John are probably causing havoc upstairs with their practical jokes! RIP Greg – Deb will miss you so much – we all will!

I could not have been blessed with a better stepdad. I knew from the first time I met Greg he was special. My mom was the happiest I have ever seen her once she met and fell in love with Greg. They enjoyed their time together and he became a cherished family member. Greg was always kind, fun, loving , giving and honest. Never a day in the last year has he not been in my prayers . Never a day did he complain about his illness and all the suffering he endured. I hope you are dancing with the angels Greg . One day I will see you on the other side ❤️
